🌱 KSI – Malaysian SME Resilience & Growth Conference 2025 | Empowering ESG-Driven Youth SMEs 🌱
On 23rd January 2025, at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur, industry leaders gathered in a conference to explore the transformative power of ESG in driving resilience and growth for Malaysian SMEs which was moderated by Adjunct Practice Professor Cheah Kok Hoong, President of the ESG Association of Malaysia (ESGAM). He highlighted how ESG practices enable SMEs to remain competitive, meet stakeholder expectations, and achieve long-term success. ESG-driven approaches also unlock market potential and new revenue streams, with collaboration among stakeholders, including the government and accelerators, being key to amplifying impact.
Interesting remarks from speakers added depth to the discussions. Mr. J. Philip Vincent Group Director and Co-Founder of GSH Group of Companies, Penang, shared that ESG must begin at home, reflecting an organization’s internal values before creating external impact. Adjunct Professor Mohamad Faisal Malik, Managing Partner of FMC Group and Immediate Past Vice President of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), underscored the need to focus on governance, strategy, risk management, and ESG metrics. Ms. Yanni Xinyan Ching, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Entomal Biotech Sdn Bhd, inspired attendees by encouraging them to “be the change you want to see in the world.” Meanwhile, Ms. Miccele Siow, National Vice President and Chairlady of the Women Entrepreneurs Bureau at the SME Association of Malaysia, urged businesses to take action now, emphasizing the importance of practicing ESG rather than just raising awareness.
This impactful conference showcased how Malaysian SMEs can lead the way in creating a sustainable and resilient future through ESG practices. 🌍✨
